I recognize this as the infamous starting point for Hell's greatest missionaries also known as JW's.
I usually shut them down and close the door but they were so pleasant, I talked with them.
I immediately brought up the fact that Jesus is God. They assured me that He is the Son of God but a completely separate person and that the Holy Spirit was not a person but the active force of God.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the word was God." I recited to them as I prayed silently for God to give me the right words to say.
They didn't even respond to this verse, pulling out 1 Cor 14:26-28 to prove that they are separate people. I should have pressed them to explain John 1:1-14 to me.
So if a JW comes to your door, take them to the following Scriptures and press them with them.
John 1:1, 14
John 8:58-59
1 Tim 3:16
1 Tim 3:16
Isa 40:1-5
How do you respond to these 'evangelists' when they knock on your door and why?

Never had the JWs come since we have been Christians, but we have the mormons over. I just requested a book of mormon from the website since they don't know we are in the area and apostates. Best thing to do, in my opinion, is to invite them back later so you have time to get your thoughts in order. That way you are as ready as they are, so you can refer back to the Word more readily.
Compare Isaiah 45:21-23 with Philippians 2:9-11 and tell me who the only Savior is?
John,
Wait, wait I know this one....
Jesus Christ!
This is how you handle a false witness.
1John 2:20 ¶ But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
1John 2:21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
1John 2:22 ¶ Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.
1John 2:23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
The father and Son are one,
John 10:30 I and My Father are one.
He who denies Jesus is God denies both.
2John 1:9 ¶ Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
2John 1:10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;
2John 1:11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.
We begin the conversation i.e. Do you believe Jesus is God, depending upon the answer the conversation may continue, if the answer is no then the person is asked to leave. He is AntiChrist.

There is nothing that is going to persuade them.
While they are taught to "reason" they are actually programmed, like other Christians, to believe what they believe because their eternity depends on it.
No different than you, and others in Christianity.
If you don't believe what you believe, where do you end up????
Well anonymous (not Ken), what (if anything) do you believe in? And why?
Anon,
I believe that the Holy Scriptures are sufficient for what we are to believe and practice concerning God and salvation. I believe that the gospel is the very power of God and is able to persuade any JW, Muslim, atheist or person whose life contradicts its teaching.
The Scriptures/ Jesus taught that the only path to heaven was a narrow one and that it was through Him alone. The Scriptures that Ken mentions here and the ones I have mentioned as well as John, concerning the only Savior leaves no doubt in my mind as to what the Word says.
Everyone's theology will be revealed one day, no doubt.
JW's are not taught to reason. Note the remark "While they are taught to "reason" they are actually programmed, like other Christians, to believe what they believe because their eternity depends on it."
JW's are not programed they are deceived. Christians are not programed they are born again chosen by God.
Eph. 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Gal. 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Christians believe because Christ lives in them, they are not programed to believe.

Ken,
Well said. If I were you, I would put your statements on your NMRS blog.
