11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Luther said, “The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him.” War is a fearful thing. But what is there to be afraid of when we know which side will win and if we do happen to lose our physical life we receive the glory of heaven? Mat 16:25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Let us not be mistaken, this is a war, and at stake is the eternal soul. The devil is a liar and very deceptive. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. The war speech of a Philistine general applies to the saints as we turn the tables 1Sa 4:9 Be strong and conduct yourselves like men, you Philistines, that you do not become servants of the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Conduct yourselves like men, and fight!"
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, Stand, be brave, don’t back down. Luk 9:62 But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Don’t miss the first and foremost point made here. Bathe yourself in the truth.
