Journey in Salvation pt 6

I realize this is dragging on butI guess I am looking for something, some key to unlock where I am in my life, the lesson I am to learn so that I don't have to repeat the course. I am looking for the truth that will help me press on wherever and however I am supposed to...

Getting off the plain in Perth, Australia, it was not 2 minutes before I was asked the question everyone in Australia lives for- "What kind of beer do you like?"

"I don't drink." was my reply, (I wanted to say, because I am a Christian but I didn't) I could see the eye roll and think someone said audibly, -we will see about that. If they didn't say it, they communicated the sentiment non-verbally.

Note: Teenagers and college kids ought to go on ventures such as this to try their faith. They will anyway when they reach the big deep dark world. Obviously discretion needs to be used.

Australia taught me a few valuable lessons- you can gather rosebuds while you may, and sieze the day but at the end of the day, you will be empty and unfullfilled if you can't get past the ceiling when you pray.

I visited a church for 2 Sundays when I was there. The pastor and his family had me over for dinner. I remember sighing a Charlie Brown "good grief," under my breath when he told me how he has his wife go through the newspaper removing naked women before he reads it. Now, I think of Psalm 101 that says, I will set no wicked thing before my eyes.

I travelled to the most remote region of the world, probably farther away from Michigan than most anywhere else, to get away, to find myself, or whatever you want to call it, and do you know what I found? -People are the same the world over. People have the same general needs and sin destroys lives. As people rebel against God's revealed will, it brings anguish and suffering.

To fast forward this process- came back, met my future wife, got married, moved to southern Michigan to teach in a Christian school with my wife. And the unimaginable happened- I got saved!
